Why I Started Home Education Hub

​

I’m a dad of two energetic boys who are both home educated. Like many parents, we wanted a more flexible, child-led approach to learning than the traditional school system could offer. Home education has completely changed the way I look at learning and shown me just how much can happen when children are given the freedom to explore their own curiosity.

 

Before home educating, I spent years working with children, from teaching PE in primary schools to teaching GCSE English in specialist education. My partner has also worked one-to-one with children with special educational needs. Those experiences, combined with educating our own boys, have shown us first-hand that no two children learn in exactly the same way.

 

I started Home Education Hub to create the kind of resources I wanted for my own family - affordable, engaging and flexible enough to fit around the child rather than expecting the child to fit around the resource.

We create high quality resources that give families a starting point for learning, while giving children the freedom to follow their curiosity, discover new interests and take their learning further.

Our Approach

At Home Education Hub, we believe learning works best when children are given the freedom to be curious, explore their interests and discover things in their own way. Every child learns differently, which is why our resources are designed to be flexible, engaging and easy to adapt around your child.

 

Rather than putting limits on where learning should begin and end, our resources provide a starting point for conversations, activities and new discoveries. Whether learning happens around the kitchen table, outdoors or somewhere completely unexpected, the aim is simple: give children opportunities to explore, ask questions and enjoy learning.

From Teacher to Home Educator​

Hi, I’m Sam - a former teacher, home-educating dad of two, and the person behind Home Education Hub. Before starting HEH, I spent years working with children across mainstream schools, alternative provision and specialist education, giving me experience of many different approaches to learning.

​

Now, as a home-educating parent myself, I get to experience learning from a completely different perspective. I create every HEH resource with real families in mind, combining my experience in education with what I learn every day alongside my own boys. HEH is personal, practical and built around one simple idea: They Lead. You Guide.
